Installation of Windows XP on a new PC (clean installation)
Minimum System Requirements
PC with 300 MHz or higher processor, clock speed recommended; 233 MHz minimum required
Starting the system (installation) from CD
Installation: Text mode
During the installation, you can press F2 to repair the system using the ASR feature.
Installation continues in graphical mode
Installation screen - before Installation Wizard
Your name and company name
Enter the product key - You will find it on a certificate distributed with your Windows installation CD (manufacturers usually stick the label on the computer case).
(There may exist versions that do not require the registration key. This used to be applied for large companies).
Name of the computer (must be unique) and Administrator's password (remember!)
Date, time and time zone settings
Networking Settings - 1) Typical - automatic setup of TCP/IP using DHCP,
or 2) Custom - manual setup of TCP/IP)
Clicking the TCP/IP protocol, you can manually set the properties of network
card (IP address, mask, gateway, servers...)
Choose and enter name of domain and group
Installation of particular components
Welcome screen - before you log in for the first time
Automatic update activation is recommended.
Create accounts for users who will be using the computer.
Computer manufacturers can adjust the installation. They usually add their own registration screen to get information about the user or product over internet.
After you log in for the first time, necessary drivers, updates and SW products will be automatically installed.
